Susan Fell "Drawn on Duality"
$4,500
Contemporary Textile Artist "Drawn on Duality" is a double-sided textile drawing. Drawn first by nature, tannins and anthocyanins from plant specimens make marks, in a process of botanical contact printing, a path for a slow stitch narrative. Materials and techniques of drawing, and textile are questioned, as is a preconception of prioritising ‘front’ over ‘back’. One side of the stitch drawing exists entirely because of the other. Both are interdependent. Referencing concepts of Buddhism around interconnectedness and non-duality, both sides are interconnected. Just as the existence of a shadow is dependent on light the yin and yang of this drawing are complementary.
